Anisa Angarola graduated from University of Southern California with Bachelor and Master
degrees in music. She studied many years with Pepe Romero as well as Celedonio, Celin, and
Angel Romero.
She has concertized with the Romeros Quartet and in duo with Angel Romero. Her studies
with luminaries of the classical guitar world include composers Joaquin Rodrigo, Federico
Moreno Torroba, and guitarists Romero family, Christopher Parkening, Andres Segovia. One of twelve
guitarists selected nationwide, Anisa performed in Segovia’s historic 1980 masterclasses held at the University of Southern California.
With guidance from Maestro Pepe Romero in 1979, Anisa, Bill Kanengiser, John Dearman, and Scott Tennant, formed the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, recording and performing to international acclaim. The quartet performed concerts throughout the globe including London’s Wigmore Hall, Hong Kong Arts Festival, International Cervantino Festival, New York’s Carnegie Hall, Teatro Nacional in Madrid, Zurich Tonhalle and Belles Artes in Mexico City, to name a few. After ten years Anisa then formed the Angarola Guitar Quartet to commission works composed specifically for the medium of guitar quartet. Works by Lloyd Rodgers and Michael Bayer were premiered in Germany and later in the United States.
In Celtic music she has performed and recorded with Irish legends Seamus Connolly, ten times
All-Ireland fiddler, legendary piper Paddy Keenan, and percussionist Tommy Hayes.
In 2022 she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Guitar Foundation of America.

Anisa also composed the score for The Holy Eucharist, a feature length documentary filmed in
